It was initiated by the Elders, and brought together a diverse range of international organisations and civil society actors who supported the campaign as partners. That year saw an increased priority on stronger awareness and education about the Universal Declaration and it's principles, which stand as the leading commitment to human rights worldwide. Post 2009,

We are always looking for ways to help raise awareness of the principles of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and take action on them, making sure they are protected and enshrined. In a world where people are still persecuted for speaking out, children still don’t have access to basic education and women are still abused and marginalised- human rights have too often been ignored or abused.
We must all believe that EVERY HUMAN HAS RIGHTS – whoever they are, wherever they are from and begin with the basis of the Universal Declaration:
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.”
We are building a network of people who believe in this fundamental truth, who want to support human rights and ensure they are upheld, and will learn, share and act together. Please join us!
