Homosexuality: Is Africa Making Progress?

Africa and its leaders are increasingly becoming homophobic. Their lack of tolerance towards homosexuals is evident in the way they denounce and violate the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender and intersex in general. Despite being party to the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Union’s African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, most countries have pushed for anti-homosexuality legislation.
